I don’t understand people who don’t eat breakfast. I actually don’t know many people who don’t eat breakfast (because I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life) but when I come across those people I am seriously SHOCKED. WHAT? You don’t eat b-b-breakfast?!?!? Or the people who don’t eat soon after they wake up, that’s also skipping breakfast like it or not. Breakfast should be eaten AT LEAST an hour to 2 hours MAX after waking. When you eat breakfast your sugar levels rise keeping you full for much longer than any other meal of the day.
I am not trying to nag you to eat breakfast of course, because if you are not hungry as soon as you wake up then you aren’t going to eat and that’s just that. HOPEFULLY though, you are at least having a big glass of water before anything 😉 Water fires up your metabolism, hydrates you, helps your body flush out toxins, gives your brain fuel, and may even make you eat less. SO, DRINK UP BABES.
“It’s the most important meal of the day”, “Eat a balanced meal to start your day”, “Kick start your metabolism with breakfast” those are NOT a myth. Let me break it down for you, according to this source, breakfast helps your memory, lowers LDL levels (the “bad” cholesterol), and LOWERS chances of heart disease, diabetes, and being overweight. This makes sense because our food is our fuel. What we eat our bodies absorb and we use the nutrients to work, talk, move, laugh, EVERYTHING! Feeding yourself in the morning is a great idea if you want to have optimal energy and have the best day ever. ❤
So what do I eat for breakfast?
I. LOVE. BREAKFAST. My morning is probably my favorite time of day. It’s also the most time I get to spend with my boyfriend before he heads out for his long day at work so there’s lots of reasons the morning is my favorite. ❤
First things first,
A big glass of water .(I shoot for 16oz of cold water) If you aren’t a water drinker put some lemon and cucumber slices in it. Tastes terrific.
Oats. Lately I’ve been having dressed up oats and nothing starts my day better! I have 1/2 a cup of Old Fashioned oats from Trader Joes and I dress it up with Coconut, Chia seeds, Flax seeds, honey, peanut butter, blueberries, and strawberries. YUM.
JUICE. Recently, I invested in a Juicer and I am ob-effing-sessed. Nothing like fresh pressed juice to get wired up. My favorite things to juice in the AM: Kale, Cucumber, Celery, Apple, Valencia Orange, Beet, Parsley, annnnd anything else I can grab sometimes peach, spinach and even jalapeno. SERIOUSLY, DELISH.
Coffee. Duh. I pour myself a cup of coffee last only if I am really really craving it. I enjoy trying to go without it. But If I do have it I have to dress it up a bit. Almond milk and Cinnamon is enough for me.
AND I TAKE PROTANDIM. Everyday. Absolutely the reason being healthy is so much fun. ❤
What you eat is important. How much you eat, when you eat, why you are eating. It all makes up your health and gives you energy.
