FIT TIPS 🍍 Starting Points (cause like where do you even start?)

When I say I know what it’s like to not feel comfortable in my own skin, I’M DEAD SERIOUS.

4 years ago, I just was NOT myself. It was like an out-of-body experience because I just felt SO uncomfortable.

Let me take you back to where I was at the time: 18 years old, just graduated high school, in the same relationship since I was 15 (can you say, comfortable?), Β & had just packed up all my stuff into my VW beetle and moved to Carmel, CA for college.

The moment I got to Carmel it was like me & NO ONE.

I was alone for the first time in my life. No boyfriend, no friends, no family, just ME.

I was really able to focus on ME, no drama of any sort, for the first time in my life

Now that I look back on it I am SO glad I had the opportunity to do this- to really focus on just me- it was like a HUGE breath of fresh air at the time.

So imagine this, I am now just focusing on myself and notice that I have gained 15 pounds my senior year of high school.. 15 pounds!!

Let’s just say I ran cross country senior year and thought I could eat whatever I wanted, HA, not the case my friends. DON’T DO THAT.

Anyways, I was over weight, bloated all the time, low energy & lowwwwwww self esteem.

I was so jealous at the time, always comparing myself to other people and just being down on myself.

What really got me out of my rut is one of my favorite fitness inspirations, Paige Hathaway. I would go to her Instagram and website and get all of her workouts and copy them. I then signed up for her online training and started working on my diet. Honestly I wasn’t the greatest with my diets and was working out almost TOO much so it took years to see results but I stuck with it.

Yeah, I know starting points suck but we all have them and the faster you start the quicker you rip off that bandaid. There is NO excuse to starting…

Thank God I fell in love with nutrition and feeling healthy because now all I want to do is help other people feel amazing about themselves!

However, I had to go through a lot of trial & error which doesn’t have to be the case for everyone so let me give you my favorite 3 tips to kick start your fitness journey. ❀

I know what most people are looking for, to lose body fat & KEEP it off.

Through these last 4 years I’ve developed a sustainable plan to keep the body fat off & to still live happy & not deprived!


  1. Β START SMALL~ don’t over think it and don’t over promise yourself. Not everyone can start a fitness plan cold turkey and stick to it forever. This is a LIFESTYLE (i’m sure you’ve heard that a million times, yawn, but it’s true)! So start small. Promise yourself at least 1-2 days of working out (if you haven’t been at all) or bump up your current routine 2 more times a week. Start measuring your portions & looking at the labels. TRACK the food you eat currently & you’ll be shocked at the foods you really don’t need- give those up first. It’s these little habits that will make a huge ripple effect. If you want to lose body fat it’s time to cut the crap out but not ALL at once. You have your whole life to master this lifestyle so don’t crash and burn, start small, one thing at a time! I’ve always gone too hard on a diet depriving myself of foods and a hardcore workout routine that was just too much and then went right into “cheat days” which turned into “cheat weeks” , avoid this by starting SMALL!
  2. FIND A COACH. This is critical! I think everyone needs someone to help them especially when getting started and then to keep them on track. Anyone can promise themselves something but it’s a lot harder to stay on track when you have no extra motivation. A coach makes it simple, insures you aren’t doing anything wrong & motivates the CRAP out of you (at least a good coach does). When I started on my own fitness journey I used an online coach and TONS of trainers in the gym. I had goals and knew I needed help getting there – everyone does! I still need a coach even as a coach. Does that make sense?
  3. DON’T TAKE IT SO SERIOUS!Β Be proud of yourself for even attempting to change your life for the better and stop hatin’ in that head of yours. The #1 way to slow down this process is to think negatively. Know that results take time! It’s not going to happen overnight, but it WILL happen. With the right attitude and people by your side you should see great results within a month. So keep it up babe and know you are doing the BEST you can ~ smiiiile.
